The Gippsland languages are a family of Pama-Nyungan Australian Aboriginal languages spoken in the Gippsland region of southeastern Australia, along the Bass Strait coast of Victoria and New South Wales. The family comprises three branches, Gaanay, also called Kurnai, with its Muk-thang, Nulit, Thangquai and Bidhawal dialects, Dhudhuroa and Pallanganmiddang; all members besides Kurnai are extinct, and the group's phonotactics are unusual for mainland Australia but characteristic of Tasmanian languages.
