The Arnhem Land languages are a proposed family of non-Pama-Nyungan Australian Aboriginal languages, put forward by linguist Nicholas Evans in 1997, spoken across northern Arnhem Land in Australia's Northern Territory. The proposal unites five established language groups, Burarran, Iwaidjan and the extinct Giimbiyu, Gaagudju and Umbugarla, and remains a contested classification rather than a definitively established family, distinct from the differently defined Arnhem languages grouping used by other linguists.
