Nyulnyulan is one of the world's primary language families, comprising 16 non-Pama-Nyungan Australian Aboriginal languages spoken along the Fitzroy River and Dampier Peninsula of the Kimberley region in northern Western Australia. It divides into a Western (Nyulnyulic) branch, including the extinct Nyulnyul, Jawi and Nimanburru, and an Eastern (Dyukun) branch, including Yawuru, Warrwa and Nyigina. Most Nyulnyulan languages are now extinct, and the three that survive, including Bardi and Yawuru, are all nearly extinct as well.
