The Tahitic languages are a subgroup of the Eastern Polynesian branch of the Austronesian language family, comprising Tahitian, Austral, Rapa and Tuamotuan, all spoken in French Polynesia. They form part of the wider Central Eastern Polynesian classification descending from Proto-Polynesian, alongside the separate Marquesic subgroup.
