Ede is a dialect continuum of Benin and Togo closely related to Yoruba, spoken by roughly 800,000 people and recognized as a minority language in Benin. Its best-known variety is Ife, and the continuum is documented under eight named varieties, Cabe, Ica, Idaca, Ije, Nago, Kura Nago, Manigri and Ife, each carrying its own ISO 639-3 code; some linguists, including Kluge in 2011, classify Yoruba itself as one more member of the Ede continuum rather than a separate language standing apart from it.
