The Karaboro languages are a dialect continuum of the Senufo subfamily, part of Niger-Congo, spoken in southern Burkina Faso and geographically separated from other Senufo languages by a band of unrelated languages. The continuum divides into Syer-Tenyer, or Western Karaboro, whose roughly 65,000 speakers as of 2015 commonly use Jula as a second language, and Kar, or Eastern Karaboro, with the two varieties showing only limited mutual intelligibility despite their close relationship.
