The Dakoid languages are a branch of the Northern Bantoid languages spoken in Taraba and Adamawa states of eastern Nigeria. The group includes Dong, Gaa, Taram and the Daka dialect cluster, which itself covers Dirim, Samba, Lamja, Dengsa and Tola; the Samba Daka cluster alone was estimated at more than 100,000 speakers as of 1990. Classification has been disputed, with some scholars placing Dakoid within Benue-Congo and others treating it as an independent branch of Niger-Congo.
