The Baga languages are a group within the Mel branch of Niger-Congo's Atlantic-Congo languages, related to Temne, one of Sierra Leone's four official languages, and spoken along the coast of Guinea by roughly 30,000 people. The group divides into Landoma, the more distantly related member, accounting for nearly half of all speakers, and Baga proper, comprising the varieties Binari, Koba, Manduri and Sitemu, which are sometimes treated as dialects of a single language called Baga or Barka.
