Kresh

Kresh is a small language group of South Sudan, spoken by the Kresh people and generally considered a branch of the Central Sudanic languages within the proposed Nilo-Saharan family, though a 2010 study by Pascal Boyeldieu finds this classification not yet fully demonstrated. It functions as a dialect cluster of varieties not all mutually intelligible, including Aja, Kresh proper, comprising Ndogo, Naka, Kresh-Hofra and Woro, and Dongo; Kresh-Ndogo serves as a prestige variety understood across the cluster, while Naka is the most widely spoken.
