Eastern Middle Atlas Berber

Eastern Middle Atlas Berber is an Afroasiatic language of the Northern Berber, Zenati branch of the Berber languages, spoken in the eastern and north-eastern Middle Atlas of Morocco by tribes including the Ait Seghrouchen, Ait Warayn, Marmoucha, Ait Alaham, Ait Youb and Ait Mourghi. Though mutually intelligible with Central Atlas Tamazight dialects, it actually belongs to the Zenati languages and serves as an intermediate dialect group between Riffian and Atlas Berber varieties. Roughly 150,000 to 200,000 people spoke it natively as of 2013 estimates, written variously in Tifinagh, Arabic script and the Latin alphabet; scholarly documentation is uneven, concentrated on the Ait Seghrouchen and Ait Warayn dialects while Ait Alaham and Marmoucha remain thinly documented and Ait Youb and Ait Mourghi are practically unstudied.
