Zaparoan Family

This group collects members of the Zaparoan family, a small and severely endangered language family of the western Amazon basin of Ecuador and Peru. Several of its members are already extinct or down to a handful of speakers, including Záparo, Arabela, Iquito and the extinct Aushiri and Cahuarano languages, and the family as a whole is sometimes treated as related to the Peba-Yaguan family placed under Language Isolates below, a link this group does not assume. Placement follows each member's own description naming it Zaparoan or identifying the language as part of the Záparo family.
