South American Sign Languages

This group collects the South American Language Families subcategory's national and regional sign languages, distinct manual-visual languages that arose independently of the spoken-language families around them rather than belonging to any of the phylum-based groups above, including languages such as Argentine, Brazilian, Chilean and Guyanese Sign Language and the Paraguay-Uruguay Sign Language family. Placement follows each member's own name identifying it as a sign language.
