Quechuan and Aymaran

This group collects members of the two great Andean language families, Quechuan (comprising Quechua I and Quechua II, including Southern Quechua and Cajamarca-Cañaris Quechua) and Aymaran, together with the proposed Quechumaran grouping that links them under a shared, contested higher-level relationship. These families dominate the central Andes of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile and Argentina and remain the most widely spoken indigenous language families of South America today. Placement follows each member's own description naming it Quechuan, Quechua, Aymaran or Quechumaran.
