Pama-Nyungan: Central and Desert

This group collects members of the central geographic branches of the Pama-Nyungan family, covering the Western Desert (Wati) languages of central Australia such as Pitjantjatjara, Ngaanyatjarra and Warlpiri, the Arandic languages around Alice Springs, the Karnic languages of the Lake Eyre basin, the Thura-Yura languages of South Australia's Spencer Gulf and Adelaide Plains, and the Kalkatungic and Ngarna branches of the Queensland-Northern Territory desert fringe. Placement follows each member's own description naming a central Australian region or one of these named branches.
