North American Sign Languages

This group collects the North American Language Families subcategory's national and regional sign languages, distinct manual-visual languages that arose independently of the spoken-language phyla and families around them rather than belonging to any of this subcategory's other groups, whether indigenous, such as a Plains or village sign language, or descended from an imported national sign language tradition. Placement follows each member's own name identifying it as a sign language.
