There have been a number of pidgins and creole languages throughout history based on the Arabic language, including several still emerging today. They share a common ancestry as immigrant pidgins that arose from contact with Arabic speakers. Maridi Arabic, associated with what is now South Sudan, may have been an example dating to the 11th century.
